Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS)
- Self-Assessment for Insomnia
Sleep problems can unknowingly affect your quality of life, and without realizing it, your snoring may have worsened, or in the worst case, you may have developed sleep apnea syndrome.
First, look back on this past month and select items you have experienced at least 3 times per week.
What is the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS)?

The Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) is a method for determining the presence and severity of insomnia. It consists of 8 sleep-related questions, with each item scored from 0 points (no symptoms) to 3 points (severe symptoms). The Athens Insomnia Scale is widely used in clinical settings and research because it can easily and effectively measure insomnia risk.
Risks of Sleep Apnea Syndrome
If the cause of insomnia is 'sleep maintenance disorder'that prevents deep sleep, there is a possibility of sleep apnea syndrome.
Sleep apnea syndrome is a condition where breathing repeatedly stops (apnea) or becomes weak (hypopnea) during sleep, causing the body to become oxygen deficient.
If left untreated, it increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke, making it very dangerous, so early treatment is important.
